What is Dressmaker?
Dressmaker is a cozy tailoring simulation from Cozy Lives, the wholesome label of South African studio Free Lives — the team behind Broforce, GORN, Terra Nil and Anger Foot. You run a small-town dress shop: choose fabric, arrange and cut out paper patterns, stitch the panels together on a vintage sewing machine, then finish the dress with buttons, bows, appliqué and lace.
What sets Dressmaker apart is how faithfully it treats real dressmaking. Whether your pattern follows the grain or is cut on the bias genuinely changes the finished garment, and every panel can be cut from a different bolt. A whole town of customers commissions dresses for their own taste and their own calendar of events, and you can either impress them or deliberately sabotage the order. Anything you design can also go straight into the shop window as ready-to-wear.
